Summary

Dr Bigder was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario where he attended Lakehead University and obtained an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology as well as Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology.  He completed medical school and neurosurgical residency training at University of Manitoba and obtained a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology at Harvard University.  Following residency, he spent 18 months at Stanford University School of Medicine completing fellowship training in Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Gary Steinberg.  Dr Bigder then moved to British Columbia where he joined the Vancouver Island Neurosurgical Foundation Fellowship and gained additional experience in neurosurgical oncology and spine surgery.  He currently works as a neurosurgeon at Royal Columbian Hospital and Eagle Ridge Hospital practising general neurosurgery.  Dr Bigder has published articles and given national and international presentations on skull base techniques, management of cavernous malformations, pituitary tumours and various public health topics. He has a particular clinical interest in neurosurgical oncology, treating patients with glial tumours meningioma, and pituitary tumours.
