Neurosurgical Aid Organization

The Neurosurgical Aid Organization (NAO) is a charitable organization, comprising of a group of neurosurgeons dedicated to help neurosurgeons in developing countries to obtain and use stereotactic frames. The organization was founded by Dr. Chris Honey and was launched in May of 2013.

NAO acts as a meeting point for:

  • Neurosurgical centres that request help obtaining and using a stereotactic frame;
  • Neurosurgeons who would volunteer to teach how to use a frame; and
  • Individuals or institutions willing to donate a stereotactic frame.

In May 2013, the Neurosurgical Aid Organization obtained the approval of the Board of the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery and was announced at the  quadrennial meeting in Tokyo.

NAO has also earned the support of the European (ESSFN) and American (ASSFN) Societies for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery and was announced in their respective 2013 newsletters.
